Fitch: Slovenia to adopt euro

Fitch Ratings said it expects the E.U. Council to decide in June that Slovenia has met the Maastricht criteria and it expects the country to adopt the euro in January 2007.

After a positive decision by the E.U. Council, the agency expects to upgrade Slovenia's foreign currency issuer default rating to AA from AA- and change the outlook to stable from positive.

However, the fate of Lithuania's euro adoption timetable hangs in suspense, the agency said.
