Skybus granted one-month exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 4 - Skybus Airlines, Inc. received a 30-day extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of liquidation and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company's exclusive plan-filing period was extended to Feb. 5 from Jan. 5 and the solicitation period to April 5 from March 5.

The company said the extension will allow it to continue to liquidate its remaining assets in an orderly fashion without pressuring creditors to agree to any demands.

Additionally, Skybus said it has several unresolved issues that are essential to the formulation of a Chapter 11 plan, which include handling an adversary proceeding filed by its employees related to alleged violations of the WARN act, and reconciling passenger and credit card company claims related to chargebacks for cancelled flights.

Skybus was a Columbus, Ohio-based airline. The company ceased operations and filed for bankruptcy on April 5, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-10637.
