Skybus seeks two-month exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 31 - Skybus Airlines, Inc. is seeking an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of liquidation and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Specifically, the company wants to extend its exclusive plan-filing period to Jan. 5 from Nov. 3 and the solicitation period to March 5 from Dec. 30.

Skybus said the extension would give it the opportunity to continue to negotiate with creditors and other parties in interest on the terms of a consensual plan of liquidation.

The company said it has several unresolved contingencies that are essential to the formulation of a plan, including continuing liquidation of assets and reviewing and analyzing claims.

A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 11.

Skybus was a Columbus, Ohio-based airline. The company ceased operations and filed for bankruptcy on April 5, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-10637.
