S&P: SK Telecom view to positive

Standard & Poor's said it revised its outlook on its A- long-term corporate credit rating on SK Telecom Co., Ltd. to positive from stable.

At the same time, the agency affirmed its A- long-term corporate credit and debt ratings on SK Telecom.

S&P said the outlook revision reflects its expectation that SK Telecom will modestly improve its financial risk profiles over the next two years, mainly due to its solid operating cash flows and prudent financial policy.

Despite intense competition in Korea's telecommunications market, the agency said it believes SK Telecom will be able to maintain stable operating performance based on its strong market position and effective control of costs.

Also, S&P anticipates the company will not make major acquisitions or investments and will try to reduce its debt over the next one to two years.
