By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 23 - Silicon Graphics, Inc. said its common stock would begin trading Monday on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol SGIC, according to a company news release.

The company is distributing about 11 million new shares linked to its plan of reorganization.

Silicon Graphic's old common stock, which had been trading on the over-the-counter market under "SGID," was canceled under the plan as of Oct. 17.

Silicon Graphics, a Mountain View, Calif., technology provider, filed for bankruptcy on May 29 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York and emerged on Oct. 17. The company's Chapter 11 case number was 06-10977.
