Shopko taking bids for optical business; auction to be held April 15

Pittsburgh, April 11 – Shopko requested court approval to sell its optical business, according to a motion filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nebraska.

The company said multiple bidders have expressed interest in purchasing the business, and Shopko hopes that other parties may also participate in the final stages of the sale process.

Under a timeline given in the motion, bids for the optical business are due by 5 p.m. ET on April 12, and an auction will be held on April 15, if necessary.

The sale hearing is scheduled for April 18.

Shopko said it would file a notice disclosing the winning bid on April 16.

Shopko is a Green Bay, Wis., operator of general merchandise stores throughout the Central, Western and Pacific Northwest regions of the United States. The company is a $3 billion retailer that operates more than 360 stores in 26 states. The company filed bankruptcy on Jan. 16 under Chapter 11 case number is 19-80064.
