Shearman & Sterling appoints Michael Mountain as M&A partner

Buffalo, N.Y., July 26 – Shearman & Sterling appointed Michael Mountain as a mergers and acquisitions partner in its London-based practice, according to a news release.

Mountain advises clients on a broad range of corporate transactions that include mergers and acquisitions, private equity and joint ventures, particularly focusing on alternative capital providers and special situations.

Mountain marks the firm’s fifth strategic lateral hire in London this year, following the recent appointment of partners Shameer Shah (leveraged finance), Phil Baynes (funds), Matthew Skinner (international arbitration) and Maegen Morrison (mergers and acquisitions).

As with Florian Ziegler and Shameer Shah, Michael Mountain joins Shearman & Sterling from White & Case LLP.
