Senior Housing files automatic shelf

Des Moines, July 12 - Senior Housing Properties Trust filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The shelf covers debt securities, common shares of beneficial interest, preferred shares of beneficial interest, trust preferred securities, depositary shares and warrants. Securities may be structured as convertibles.

The filing includes $1.4 billion of previously registered but unsold securities.

The company will use the proceeds for general business purposes.

Senior Housing is a Newton, Mass.-based real estate investment trust.
