Sempra Energy files automatic shelf covering stock, debt securities

Knoxville, Tenn., Sept. 15 - Sempra Energy filed a common stock and debt securities automatic shelf registration in an S-3 ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

The San Diego utility company will describe in a prospectus supplement how it plans to use the proceeds.
