S&P rates AT&T notes A

Standard & Poor's said it assigned an A rating to AT&T Inc.'s £750 million notes due 2017 and £1.1 billion notes due 2040 and affirmed its ratings, including the A corporate credit rating.

The outlook is negative.

Proceeds will be used for general purposes and the refinancing of upcoming debt maturities.

The agency said the A corporate credit rating reflects AT&T's solid investment-grade business position and modest financial profile.

The negative outlook indicates S&P's view that current leverage metrics are only marginally supportive of the rating.
