S&P rates AT&T notes A

Standard & Poor's said it assigned its A rating to AT&T Inc.'s $2 billion of global notes due 2037.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including repayment of maturing debt, the agency said, noting that it also affirmed all ratings on AT&T, including the A corporate credit rating.

The outlook is stable.

S&P said that the ratings reflect the company's strong position in the fast-growing wireless sector, healthy financial performance of its wireline business and modest financial profile.
