Sears confirmation hearing adjourned to Oct. 3 to resolve objections

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Sept. 25 – Sears Holdings Corp.’s Chapter 11 plan confirmation hearing has been adjourned to Oct. 3 from Sept. 27, according to a notice filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The hearing on the company’s motion for modification of retiree benefits was also adjourned to Oct. 3.

According to the notice, “the short adjournment of the hearing is intended to facilitate ongoing, productive negotiations with an ad hoc group of administrative expense claimants regarding resolution of confirmation objections and a framework to expedite the Chapter 11 plan effective date.”

Sears is a retailer based in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The company filed bankruptcy on Oct. 15, 2018 under Chapter 11 case number 18-23538.
