Fitch: No change for Scottish and Southern

Fitch Ratings said the $1.8 billion of new capital expenditure announced by Scottish and Southern Energy Plc will not affect the company's A/F1 and senior unsecured A+ ratings.

The outlook is stable.

Fitch said that supply chain pressures are resulting in rapid and sustained increases in wind farm construction costs, with turbines and equipment in short supply globally at a time of increasing construction activity.

As a result, Fitch said it expects costs to continue to rise for future offshore wind development projects in the near term, and will closely monitor the relationship between new build costs, market prices for electricity and incentive mechanisms related to wind technology throughout the region.
