SCO Group's exclusive plan-filing period extended to Dec. 31

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Sept. 23 - The SCO Group, Inc. obtained an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company's exclusive plan-filing period was extended to Dec. 31 from Aug. 11 and the solicitation period to March 2 from Oct. 13.

According to the motion, the final judgment in the company's Novell lawsuit will impact SCO's business model and the feasibility of its plan of reorganization.

The company said it also needs more time to prepare an amended plan that includes a feasibility and liquidation analysis and to incorporate the ruling's impact on the terms of the plan.

SCO, based in Lindon, Utah, develops UNIX software technology for distributed, embedded and network-based systems. The company filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 14, 2007. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-11337.
