SCO Group loss from operations grows to $2.97 million in quarter ended July 31

Pittsburgh, Sept. 15 - The SCO Group, Inc. reported a $2.97 million loss from operations for the three months ended July 31 on $3.74 million in total revenues, according to a 10-Q filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In comparison, the company posted a $2.51 million loss from operations for the same period of 2007 on $4.69 million in total revenues.
According to the filing, the decline in revenues can be attributed to a continued decline in SCO's UNIX business.
The net loss for the quarter ended July 31 was $4.07 million, widening from a $2.40 million net loss for the quarter ended July 31, 2007.
Meanwhile, SCO recorded a $5.49 million loss from operations in the first nine months of 2008 on $12.27 million in total revenues, widening from a $4.84 million loss from operations reported for the first nine months of 2007 on $16.72 million in total revenues.
The net loss for the first nine months of this year was $7.62 million, widening from a $4.57 million net loss for the first nine months of last year.
SCO had $2.18 million in cash and cash equivalents at July 31, compared with $5.55 million at Oct. 31, 2007.
SCO, based in Lindon, Utah, develops UNIX software technology for distributed, embedded and network-based systems. The company filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 14, 2007. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-11337.
