Atrix shelves convertible redemption

Atrix Laboratories, Inc. said it has abandoned its plans to call the remainder of its 7% convertible subordinated notes due 2004.

The Fort Collins, Colo. specialty pharmaceutical company said it had rescinded the redemption notice.

"The decision to redeem the remaining $7.3 million in convertible notes was made prior to the terrible events of the past two weeks," said Brian G. Richmond, Atrix's chief financial officer, in a news release. "As a result of the tragedy and its impact on the financial markets, the company has decided not to proceed with the redemption at this time. We have taken this step to maintain our current strong financial position."
