S&P: Schering-Plough view stable

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed the A- long-term corporate credit rating on Schering-Plough Corp. and removed the rating from CreditWatch, where it was placed with negative implications on March 31.

The outlook is stable.

The A-2 short-term corporate credit and commercial paper ratings were affirmed.

Ratings reflect the company's diverse product portfolio, absence of major patent expirations, an enhanced product pipeline following the Organon Biosciences acquisition and its conservative financial policies, the agency said.

Slightly offsetting these strengths is somewhat high leverage and Vytorin/Zetia's market uncertainty, S&P noted.
