South Carolina Electric, Scana file automatic shelf for notes, bonds

Knoxville, Tenn., Nov. 12 - Scana Corp. and South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. jointly filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3-ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers medium term notes, junior subordinated notes and common stock to be offered by Scana and first-mortgage bonds, which will be offered by South Carolina Electric & Gas.

Proceeds will be used for financing capital expenditures, refunding, redeeming or retiring debt and preferred stock, and other general corporate purposes.

South Carolina Electric & Gas is a utility based in Columbia, S.C. Scana, an electric and natural gas provider, is also based in Columbia.
