Moody's: Samsung unchanged

Moody's Investors Service said that a California court's ruling that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has infringed Apple Inc.'s patents for mobile devices is credit negative for the company.

But the verdict will not have any immediate impact on the company's A1 rating or stable outlook because it has a strong diversified business position and substantial financial cushion to absorb the cash damages that resulted from the ruling.

That said, Moody's said that the longer-term effect on Samsung's operations could become material.
