By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., April 28 - Saint Vincents Catholic Medical Centers of New York was granted an extension to its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on April 25, according to an attorney familiar with the case.

The court extended the company's exclusive filing period to Aug. 9 from April 11 and the solicitation period to Oct. 6 from June 8.

Previously, Saint Vincents said it still needed to resolve several aspects of its liquidation case, including the transfer of remaining patient care programs.

Saint Vincents, a New York-based health care system, filed for bankruptcy on April 14, 2010. Its Chapter 11 case number is 10-11963.
