Atlantic Express misses coupon payment

New York, Aug. 1 - Atlantic Express Transportation Corp. said it did not make the $6.45 million interest payment due Thursday on its 10¾% senior notes maturing in 2004.

The Staten Island, N.Y. company added in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it has a 30-day grace period before the non-payment becomes a default.
