Moody's downgrades Qtel

Moody's Investors Service said it downgraded the long-term ratings for Qatar Telecom QSC, Qtel International Finance Ltd. and the bonds issued under Qtel's medium-term note program by one notch to A2 from A1.

The outlook is stable. This concludes the review that began on March 10.

Moody's said it has changed its view on government support assumptions in line with other government-related issuers, which has resulted in the downgrade.

Although support from the Qatari government continues to be viewed as high, it is slightly lower than would be if there were an explicit guarantee or a special legal status, according to the agency.
