S&P lifts Qatar Petroleum view to stable

S&P said it revised the outlook on Qatar Petroleum to stable from negative and affirmed its AA- foreign- and local-currency long-term issuer credit ratings.

The action follows a recent similar action on the state of Qatar, S&P said.

The agency said it equalizes the ratings on Qatar Petroleum with the sovereign ratings because there is an almost certain likelihood that Qatar would receive timely and sufficient extraordinary support from the Qatar government in the event of financial distress.

The company plays a critical role for Qatar's government and economy, S&P said, and is integrally linked to the state.
