Fitch: Generali on watch negative

Fitch Ratings said it placed Assicurazioni Generali SpA's senior and subordinated notes on Rating Watch Negative.

At the same time, the agency affirmed Generali and its core subsidiaries' insurer financial strength ratings at A- and long-term issuer default ratings at BBB+.

The outlooks are negative.

Fitch said the actions are in response to three distinct and separate events - Fitch's downgrade of Italy's sovereign ratings on March 13, Generali's publication of 2012 financial statements and Generali's recent announcement of plans to modify its holding company structure.
