Goodyear exec tapped to head A. Schulman

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 17 - A. Schulman Inc. named Joseph M. Gingo as president and chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1, to replace Terry L. Haines, who is retiring after 16 years with the company.

Gingo most recently was executive vice president, quality systems and chief technical officer for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., according to a company news release. He was with Goodyear for 41 years and has been an A. Schulman director since 2000.

"We are confident about the future and the ongoing commercial launch of Invision, our new multi-layered sheet product that leverages A. Schulman's manufacturing base and technology leadership," lead independent director Will Holland said in the release.

Based in Akron, Ohio, A. Schulman manufactures and sells plastic resins and plastic compounds, including engineered flame-retardant compounds, thermoplastic elastomers and nylon compounds.
