S&P stabilizes Arthur J. Gallagher view

S&P said it revised Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.’s outlook to stable from positive and affirmed its BBB issuer rating after the company terminated its agreement to acquire certain brokerage operations from Willis Towers Watson plc.

“Prior to this rating action, the outlook had considered the potential for material enhancement of the company's business profile stemming from the integration of acquired WLTW assets. These operations would have given AJG a stronger international presence and significantly accelerated improvements in the company's competitive position. The outlook revision reflects our view that AJG's growth trajectory has reverted to levels considered before the announcement of the acquisition,” S&P said in a press release.
