Parmalat USA gets bridge extension until Dec. 8 hearing

By Jeff Pines

Washington, Nov. 24 - Parmalat USA Corp. obtained a bridge extension for its exclusive right to file a reorganization plan until the Dec. 8 hearing where the judge will consider a longer extension.

The bridge order was filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York Wednesday.

Parmalat wants the court to extend its exclusive right to file a reorganization plan until Jan. 22 to file a reorganization plan and until March 28 to solicit votes for the plan.

The company wants the extension so that stakeholders will have time to review reorganization plan proposals and to give Parmalat enough time to negotiate with them on any proposed changes or comments.

Parmalat filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 24, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-11139.
