Parmalat USA gets bridge order extending exclusivity until Oct. 6 hearing

By Jeff Pines

Washington, Sept. 28 - Parmalat USA Corp. obtained a bridge order extending its exclusive right to file a reorganization plan until the company's next hearing scheduled for Oct. 6, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

At the hearing, the judge will consider the company's request to extend its exclusive period to file a plan to Nov. 29 and to extend its exclusive period to solicit votes for the plan until Jan. 27.

Had the judge not issued the bridge order for the Wallington, N.J.-based dairy company, its exclusive right to file a plan would have expired Sept. 28.

Parmalat filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 24, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-11139.
