S&P raises Orbital Sciences

Standard & Poor's said it raised its ratings on Orbital Sciences Corp, including the corporate credit rating and senior unsecured debt rating to BB- from B+.

The outlook is stable.

S&P said the upgrade reflects Orbital's improved credit profile, supported by adequate liquidity, better operating performance, and a sizable backlog.

The ratings on Orbital reflect the company's modest size and the risky nature of the launch business, offset somewhat by leading positions in market niches and increased military spending, especially related to national missile defense.
