Optim seeks employment of Bracewell, Morris Nichols as legal counsel

By Kali Hays

New York, Feb. 21 - Optim Energy, LLC applied for approval to employ Bracewell & Giuliani LLP and Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP as legal counsel during its ongoing Chapter 11 case, according to two Thursday filings with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Bracewell & Giuliani has represented Optim in other matters since 2007, and the firm has experience with major bankruptcy restructuring. Morris Nichols was chosen for its "specialized knowledge of bankruptcy laws and procedures in Delaware," the filing stated. Both hirings would be retroactive to Feb. 12.

Bracewell & Giuliani will assist in all negotiations and any potential sale of assets, and both firms will counsel the company in its rights as a debtor-in-possession and represent it in court proceedings.

A hearing is scheduled for March 13.

Optim is a Silver Spring, Md.-based power plant owner. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-10262.
