By Susanna Moon

Chicago, July 20 – NHPC Ltd. said it may issue up to Rs. 33 billion of corporate bonds by way of a private placement.

The issue will be considered at a board meeting set for July 30 and also requires shareholder approval, according to a company notice.

Also on Monday, the company’s board will look at the possibility of raising Rs. 5 billion through the issue of debentures or bonds in one or more series through a private placement from the domestic market, according to a separate notice.

The board also may decide to obtain term loans from banks.

The proposed Rs. 5 billion debt will be issued under the Rs. 20 billion allotment approved by the shareholders on Sept. 27, 2017, the release noted.

NHPC is a hydropower generation company based in Faridabad, India.
