New Orleans Archdiocese gets approval of Howard Avenue site sale

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Aug. 17 – The Roman Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans received court approval of a renewed motion for the sale of its property at 1000 Howard Ave., according to court documents filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

The diocese is now seeking to sell the property to Triple or Nothing, LLC for $8.6 million, as previously reported.

The diocese had received court approval of bid procedures for the property in May but later canceled the auction and sale hearing.

The stalking horse bidder for the property was Kachina Properties, LLC, which had offered to purchase the property for $10.5 million.

The archdiocese filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 1, 2020. The case number is 20-10846.
