New Orleans Archdiocese gets 120-day extension of exclusive periods

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., March 15 – The Roman Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans secured a 120-day extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to an order filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Specifically, the court extended the plan filing period through June 29 and the solicitation period through Aug. 30.

“The requested extensions of the exclusivity periods will facilitate the debtor’s restructuring efforts by providing the debtor and the other parties in interest with sufficient time to negotiate, finalize, solicit and confirm a consensual plan of reorganization,” the diocese said in its motion.

The archdiocese filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 1, 2020. The case number is 20-10846.
