M&T Bank files $3 billion shelf covering debt, stock and preferreds

Knoxville, Tenn., June 26 - M&T Bank Corp. filed a $3 billion shelf registration in an F-10 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers debt securities, preferred stock, depositary shares, common stock, guarantees and warrants, along with capital securities of M&T Capital Trust V and M&T Capital Trust VI.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

The Buffalo, N.Y.-based bank holding company said it will describe in a prospectus supplement how it plans to use the proceeds.
