Adecco clears U.S. antitrust review for $1.3 billion buyout of MPS

By Cristal Cody

Tupelo, Miss., Nov. 17 - The U.S. Federal Trade Commission granted early termination under the antitrust review period for Zurich-based human resources services firm Adecco SA's $1.3 billion takeover of Jacksonville, Fla.-based staffing service MPS Group, Inc., according to a news release on Tuesday.

The transaction also must receive regulatory approval from the European Commission, which some analysts have said could extend the review and delay the deal's closing into March.

The companies expect the acquisition to close in January or February.

MPS shareholders also must approve Adecco's offer of $13.80 a share in cash.
