Morgan Stanley makes multiple portfolio management changes

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Jan. 17 - Morgan Stanley announced in form 497 filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission portfolio management changes to several of its funds.

The Morgan Stanley Corporate Bond Portfolio, a series of the Morgan Stanley Institutional Fund Trust, is managed by Christian G. Roth and Joseph Mehlman, effective in December. The original portfolio managers were W. David Armstrong, Jaidip Singh, Neil Stone and Sanjay Verma.

The Morgan Stanley Fixed Income Opportunities Fund, a series of Morgan Stanley Flexible Income Trust, has dropped Armstrong and Verma from its portfolio management team. The team now consists of Eric J. Baurmeister, Richard Lindquist, Roth, Singh and Stone. Baurmeister and Roth have managed the fund since March 2010, and Lindquist, Singh and Stone were added to the team Jan. 17.

Morgan Stanley's Core Fixed Income Portfolio, Core Plus Fixed Income Portfolio and Long Duration Fixed Income Portfolio, all series of the Morgan Stanley Institutional Fund Trust, have also dropped Armstrong and Verma as portfolio managers. Singh and Stone are the portfolio managers for both funds and, along with Mehlman, for the Long Duration Fixed Income Portfolio.

Likewise, Morgan Stanley's Strategist Portfolio, a part of the Morgan Stanley Variable Investment Series, has dropped Armstrong and Verma. The fund is managed by Mark A. Bavoso, an existing portfolio manager for the fund since September 1995, along with Singh and Stone, who were both added as managers, effective Jan. 17.

Finally, Morgan Stanley's Flexible Income Portfolio, which falls under the Morgan Stanley Select Dimensions Investment Series, has also dropped Armstong and Verma from the portfolio management team. The team now includes Baurmeister and Roth, both of whom have managed the fund since March 2010, and Lindquist, Singh and Michael Kushma, who have been added to the team as on Jan. 17.

The funds' investment adviser is New York-based Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc.
