Applied Imaging to be acquired by Genetix for $18.3 million

Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 1 - Applied Imaging Corp. agreed to be acquired by U.K.-based biotechnology company Genetix Group plc in an all-cash transaction worth $18.3 million.

Genetix will pay $3.06 per share to acquire all of Applied Imaging's common stock.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter.

The acquisition will enable the two companies to leverage technical, commercial and capital resources, as well as cross-sell an enhanced product portfolio.

Applied Imaging is a supplier of automated imaging and image analysis systems based in San Jose, Calif.
