Mirant appoints new executive vice president, general counsel in senior management changes

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 3 - Mirant Corp. appointed James V. Iaco, Jr. executive vice president and S. Linn Williams executive vice president and general counsel, both effective Monday, according to a company news release.

Iaco will become the company's chief financial officer no later than Nov. 15, assuming the title from M. Michele Burns, who will continue as chief restructuring officer through the company's emergence from Chapter 11.

After the company emerges, Burns will leave the company to pursue other interests.

Doug Miller, the company's previous general counsel, will also remain with Mirant through emergence.

Aldie Warnock, senior vice president of government and regulatory affairs, has resigned.

Previously, Iaco had been a private investor following a six-year career at Edison Mission Energy, of which he was chief financial officer and president of the Americas division.

Williams was Edison Mission Energy's general counsel from 1994 to 1998 and led the company's European division as its chief executive officer from 1998 to 2000.

Until joining Mirant, he was an arbitrator with the International Chamber of Commerce and a private investor.

Mirant, an Atlanta-based power company, filed for bankruptcy on July 14, 2003 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas. Its Chapter 11 case number is 03-46590.
