S&P rates MIE notes B+

Standard & Poor's said that it assigned a B+ long-term corporate credit rating to MIE Holdings Co. Ltd.

The outlook is stable.

S&P assigned a B+ issue rating to the company's proposed issue of dollar-denominated senior notes.

The ratings on MIE reflect the company's exposure to cyclicality in the oil and gas upstream industry, weak competitive position, expansion- and acquisition-related execution risk and its less-than-adequate liquidity, the agency said.

The ratings consider the company's proven record of operation in Chinese oilfields and favorable production sharing contracts with PetroChina Co. Ltd., the agency added.
