Metro Fuel Oil sees $227,657 of EBITDA for January; net sales improve

Pittsburgh, Feb. 21 - Metro Fuel Oil Corp. reported $227,657 of EBITDA for January on $16.39 million of net petroleum sales, according to its monthly operating report filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York.

The figures showed improvement over the negative $474,572 of EBITDA posted for December on $16.24 million of net petroleum sales.

The net loss for January was $1.22 million, narrowing from a $1.64 million December net loss.

The company had $5.65 million in cash and money market funds as of Jan. 31, up from $3.67 million at the end of December.

Metro Fuel is a Brooklyn, N.Y.-based energy company that supplies bioheat, biodiesel, heating oil, central air conditioning units, ultra low sulfur diesel fuel, natural gas and gasoline throughout the New York City metropolitan area and Long Island. The company filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 27, 2012 under Chapter 11 case number 12-46913.
