Mesa Air Group gets 49-day extension to file plan, solicit votes

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 12 - Mesa Air Group, Inc. was granted a 49-day extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The court extended Mesa's exclusive plan filing period to Oct. 21 from Sept. 2 and the solicitation period to Dec. 22 from Nov. 3 providing the creditors' committee files an objection to the motion for the extension on or before Oct. 8.

A hearing on any such objection would be held on Oct. 19.

If the creditors' committee does not file an objection on or before Oct. 8, the extension periods will be automatically extended by 41 additional days to Dec. 1 for the plan filing and Feb. 1, 2011 for the vote solicitation.

Mesa had asked for a 90-day extension, noting the size and complexity of its cases.

In March the court extended Mesa Air's exclusive plan filing period to Sept. 2 from May 5 and the solicitation period to Nov. 3 from July 6.

Mesa Air, a Phoenix-based provider of passenger and airfreight services, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 5, 2010. The Chapter 11 case number is 10-10018.
