Meridian Automotive posts $3.25 million October operating income

Pittsburgh, Dec. 1 - Meridian Automotive Systems Inc. showed a $3.25 million operating income for October on sales of $81.83 million, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The operating income was a sharp reversal of the $4.67 million operating loss reported in September on sales of $83.38 million.

The net loss for October was $6.6 million, down from a $12.65 million September net loss.

As in the previous five months, Meridian reported zero cash as of Oct. 31.

Meridian, a Dearborn, Mich., supplier of front and rear end modules, lighting, exterior composites, console modules, instrument panels and other interior systems to automobile and truck manufacturers, filed for bankruptcy on April 26, 2005. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-11168.
