Meridian Automotive posts $10.96 million July operating loss

Pittsburgh, Sept. 5 - Meridian Automotive Systems, Inc. reported a $10.96 million operating loss for July on $42.16 million in net sales, according to its monthly operating report filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The July figures show a decline over $384,000 in operating income for June on $72.4 million in net sales.

The figures included $2.45 million in selling, general and administrative expenses and $2.19 million in restructuring charges.

The net loss for July was $22.25 million, up from a $10.49 million June net loss.

The company again reported zero cash at the end of July, the same as at the end of June.

Meridian, a Dearborn, Mich., supplier of lighting, exterior composites, console modules, instrument panels and other interior systems to automobile and truck manufacturers, filed for bankruptcy on April 26, 2005. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-11168.
