Meridian Automotive granted two-month exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Aug. 14 - Meridian Automotive Systems, Inc. obtained an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company's exclusive plan filing period was extended to Sept. 30 from July 31 and the solicitation period to Nov. 30 from Sept. 30.

According to the motion, although the company's disclosure statement was approved on July 21, expiration of the exclusive periods could result in another party filing a competing plan, which would delay confirmation and consummation of Meridian's plan and would be very costly to its estates.

Meridian, a Dearborn, Mich., supplier of lighting, exterior composites, console modules, instrument panels and other interior systems to automobile and truck manufacturers, filed for bankruptcy on April 26, 2005. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-11168.
