Seidman seeks access to Massbank shareholder list

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 14 - Massbank Corp. investor Lawrence B. Seidman requested a copy of the company's most current shareholder lists for the purpose of communicating with fellow shareholders.

Seidman made the request in a Jan. 14 letter to Massbank secretary Robert S. Cummings. The letter was included in a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In December 2007 Seidman nominated himself, Thomas C. Goggins, and Welles C. Hatch for election to Massbank's board of directors at the company's next annual meeting of shareholders.

In the past, Seidman recommended Massbank accelerate share repurchases and consider a possible Dutch auction.

Seidman and the reporting persons beneficially own 303,914 shares, or about 7.12%, of Massbank's outstanding stock.

Massbank is a Reading, Mass., bank holding company.
