S&P affirms MarkWest

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed its B+ corporate credit rating on MarkWest Energy Partners LP.

The outlook is stable.

The agency said that the rating on MarkWest reflects a weak business risk profile due to the company's commodity price sensitivity, small asset base, historically acquisitive growth strategy and large capital-spending plan.

Increasing geographic diversity and the stability garnered from the company's hedging program mitigate the aforementioned risks, S&P noted.
