Markit says U.S. leveraged loans index gained 0.26% in July 2 week

New York, July 9 - The Markit iBoxx USD Leveraged Loans index was up 0.26% for the week of July 2, compared to a 0.29% gain in the week of June 25, according to data from Markit Group Ltd.

The Markit iBoxx USD Liquid Leveraged Loans index was better by 0.36% last week, versus a 0.4% gain in the prior week.

Year-to-date the Markit iBoxx USD Leveraged Loans index is up 4.96% and the Markit iBoxx USD Liquid Leveraged Loans index is up 5.4%.

Average bids in North America for the week were 93.60, up from 93.54 in the prior week.

"While other markets lost momentum late last week, leveraged loan returns continued higher," said Otis Casey, director and loan market analyst at Markit.

"In North America, it's the liquid segment of the market that has most support," Casey added.
