Manor Care stockholders to decide merger on Oct. 17

Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 31 - Manor Care, Inc. will hold a special meeting of stockholders on Oct. 17 to vote on the proposed acquisition of the company by an affiliate of the Carlyle Group.

The record date for the meeting is Sept. 10, according to a company news release.

It was previously reported that Manor Care's board approved a July 2 agreement in which the Carlyle Group would take the company private in an all-cash transaction valued at $6.3 billion. Manor Care shareholders will receive $67 in cash for each share of common stock owned.

Manor Care is a Toledo, Ohio-based provider of short-term post-acute and long-term health care.
