Private equity firm acquires Manor Care

Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 21 - The Carlyle Group has completed its $6.3 billion acquisition of Manor Care, Inc. As a result, Manor Care stock ceased trading on the New York Stock Exchange at the market's close on Friday.

Manor Care stockholders approved the deal, which gives them $67 cash per share, on Oct. 17.

Current Manor Care chairman, president and chief executive officer Paul A. Ormond will continue to lead the company, according to a company news release.

Manor Care is a Toledo, Ohio-based provider of short-term post-acute and long-term health care.
