MannKind reports plans to price public offering of common-share units

Company sells shares with warrants through Jefferies and Piper Jaffray

Knoxville, Tenn., Oct. 17 - MannKind Corp. plans to price a public offering of units, according to a preliminary prospectus supplement filed Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The units will also be sold in a private placement to Mann Group LLC.

The units consist of common shares and warrants.

Jefferies and Piper Jaffray are the joint bookrunning managers.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including research and development, capital expenditures, working capital and general administrative expenses. The company may also use a portion of the proceeds to acquire or invest in complementary businesses, products and technologies.

Valencia, Calif.-based MannKind is a biopharmaceutical company specializing in the discovery, development and commercialization of therapeutic products for diseases.
